Sukan Teras Under 11 Tournament

The Sukan Teras (Core Sport) Under 11 tournament was held from the 25th to 28th of October 2007 at the Astaka Squash Courts in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Penang sent 8 players, 4 boys and 4 girls and we were looking at an all girls final and hopefully a boy in the finals as well. But alas, we did the all girls final but only managed a 3rd place for the boys. There was a slight upset in the girls final as the favourite, Celine Yeap lost to Vanessa in 5 games. Still, it was a Penang victory. Celine Yeap (Runners-up)

The rest of the players did alright and played well. They are there mostly to gain experience and learn something. The other 2 girls are hopefully the ones that will shine in the future while the boys have a lot of work to do to match the other states. But thankfully they have time on their side.

Thanks to Selangor SRA for hosting the event, Prince for providing prizes and Sukan Teras for the participation cost for all the states. Overall, it was an excellent tournament except for the slippery court conditions that didn't help the players of the higher level play better. Otherwise, kudos to everyone.
